Spotlight Spice: Pesto Infused Olive Oil

Pesto Infused Olive Oil

Today is National Pizza Day, and we’re shining the spotlight on the secret ingredient in our homemade pizza crust (recipe here) – our Pesto Infused Olive Oil.

Traditional pesto, also known as pesto alla Genovese, originated in Genoa, Italy in the mid-1800s and is filled with the bold flavors of basil, garlic, and parmesan cheese. And so is our olive oil – but it’s vegan and allergen free!

The oil works particularly well in Italian-inspired cuisine like pizzas, pastas, and salads – especially Caprese Salad.

Try mixing a bit of the oil with one of our bright white balsamic vinegars like Sicilian Lemon or Oregano, or with our Red Wine Vinegar to make a tasty vinaigrette or marinade. You can also mix a bit into mayo for a great aioli. For a simple, but delicious grilled or roasted chicken breast, brush with the oil and season with salt and pepper, then pop it in the oven or onto the grill.

Like to dip bread? This oil is perfect for that, too. Just add a bit of salt and freshly cracked black pepper and enjoy with focaccia, ciabatta, or sourdough.

Pick up a bottle in the shop or in the Oils section of allspiceonline.com.
