We’d like to give a big thank you to everyone who stopped by the “Spice Adventure” tent that we hosted at the World Food and Music Festival this past weekend.
We had a great time with everyone who stopped in to see us, and we hope that you had fun taking our “Guess That Spice” quiz.
After the festival was over, we went through hundreds of filled-out forms, but only one person actually guessed all 15 of the “mystery ingredients” correctly. Congratulations to Sara Morgan for her keen sense of smell, taste and knowledge of spices.

Join AllSpice at the 13th annual World Food & Music Festival this Friday, September 15, through Sunday, September 17. The festival features over fifty food vendors, representing more than two dozen countries and culinary traditions from around the world.
The festival will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday — one hour later than in previous years — and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Des Moines Register says about 80,000 people attended last year’s festival and even more are expected for this year’s event — hence its new location in the Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines.
Also new this year, The Spice Adventure tent (sponsored by Principal Financial Group) will feature classes and activities led by Allspice Culinarium staffers. The sessions will feature seasonings from a variety of culinary traditions, and are open to festival-goers of all ages! Read on for the schedule:
Next month is the World Food and Music Festival, Des Moines’ “taste and entertainment” event featuring international cuisine, live music and performing arts, cooking demonstrations, wine and craft beers, and a world marketplace.
New location. After many years in the East Village and on the bridges across the Des Moines River, this year the World Food and Music Festival will take place in the Western Gateway Park of downtown Des Moines, Friday September 17 through Sunday September 19.
New AllSpice sessions. New this year, The Spice Adventure tent (sponsored by Principal Financial Group) will feature classes and activities led by Allspice Culinarium staffers. The sessions will feature seasonings from a variety of culinary traditions, and are open to festival-goers of all ages!
All day next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Sept 16 – 18, 2016), on the Court Avenue bridge across the Des Moines River, dozens of mini-restaurants will set up temporary shop up amidst workshops and morning-til-late-night live music.
