This recipe won second place in out 2017 Iowa State Fair Sweet Snack Mix Contest.

INGREDIENTS

2 Cups pretzels
1 Cup Rice Chex cereal
1 Cup lightly salted peanuts
2 Tbsp Salted Butter, melted
1/4 Cup sugar
1 Tbsp Cinnamon Sugar
1/2 Tbsp Sri Lankan “True” Cinnamon
1 Tbsp Sea Salt

STEPS

Preheat oven to 325°F, and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

Combine the cereal, pretzels, and peanuts in a large bowl. Drizzle melted butter over the dry ingredients, and stir to coat.

Combine sugar, cinnamon sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt in a large resealable (ziplock) bag. Stir or shake the bag to combine spices well. Transfer the pretzels-cereal-peanut mixture to the spice bag. Close the bag and shake to coat crunchy pieces with the sugar mixture.

Spread mixture out onto a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake snack mix in oven for 7-8 minutes. Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving or storing in airtight container.
