Brown Dogs Farm Hot Sauces are made right here in Iowa by Robb and Amanda, who created it on their farm just outside Norwalk, IA. These spicy sauces are a delicious blend of peppers and fruit, which provides great flavor with a touch of sweetness. Brown Dogs Farm NO BARK, ALL BITE.
Bored by the standard red hot sauce, Brown Dogs Farm set out to create a unique blend of fruit and peppers that would satisfy the part of the brain that craves great flavor without sacrificing the spice of the peppers. The results were the Habanero Peach and the Ghost Pear, they are sweet but still pack the heat.
HABANERO PEACH: Not for the faint at heart, this sauce packs a spicy punch with a subtle peach flavor that lingers as much as the heat. Think spicy pulled pork or a great condiment for jerk chicken or pork. This would be great on a beef or veggie burger as well.
Ingredients: peaches (peaches, water, pear juice concentrate), distilled vinegar, honey, bell pepper, mustard (distilled vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, paprika, spice, natural flavors, and garlic powder), brown sugar, habanero peppers, salt, spice, xanthan gum.
GHOST PEAR: The thing I love about ghost pepper is it is kind of a sneak attack on the taste buds. It gives you a quick kick of heat, but doesn't linger or bloom like some of the other peppers, so this means you are going to get some flavor with this punch. Pair the ghost with my favorite fruit the pear and you have made a sauce that makes you just want to keep eating more and more, you know what I am talking about. As I taste this on a spoon I get this hint of caramel flavor on the back end, which can only be, the pear and brown sugar, but it’s a wonderful ending to a spicy beginning. Great added to a BBQ sauce or used straight from the bottle, for ribs, pulled pork, burgers or chicken, those would be the obvious. Call me crazy but what about putting a tablespoon in your brownie mix???
Ingredients: pears (pears, water, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, corn syrup), distilled vinegar, molasses, mustard (distilled vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, paprika, spice, natural flavors and garlic powder), brown sugar, salt, spice, ghost pepper powder, xanthan gum
But then they added two more to the pack and now we have four.
GHOST PINEAPPLE So when I tasted this sauce, the first thing I noticed was a little bit of warm spices, think, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice. After my second taste, I was like this is totally Caribbean to me. I would eat this on a pork or chicken sandwich, or a pulled pork burrito, it would be amazing on shrimp of fish tacos. It is just so tasty and definitely comes in a very close second to the Ghost Pear for me.
Ingredients: Pineapple juice (pineapple juice, water pineapple juice concentrate), white distilled vinegars, water, carrots, raisins, spice, brown sugar, lime juice, salt, ghost pepper powder, xanthan gum
CHERRY RHUBARB REAPER This one had me very intrigued when they brought it to me, I love rhubarb and cherries, but the REAPER? I have had the reaper before and it was kind of an unpleasant experience, but it didn’t stop me from putting a dab of this in my mouth. I will be honest, it packs a very good punch, but there were no tears involved and I would eat it again. It isn’t overly sweet, like one might think, it is kind of tart with a heat that will make you sweat in seconds. If you are looking for the hottest of the four, this is it. You should put this on anything, because it will kick it up. This would be an awesome addition to BBQ pizza or a pulled pork sandwich. Are you following a theme here, we must be from Iowa since we have mentioned pulled pork in every one of the sauce descriptions.
Ingredients: Rhubarb, unsweetened dark cherries, cherry juice, apple cider vinegar, onion, carrots, lime juice, spice, salt, xanthan gum, Carolina reaper powder.
JALAPENO GREEN APPLE Their closest to a verde sauce, this more mild and sweet sauce is perfect for folks who like things just a bit more tame than the heat Ghost and Carolina Reaper chiles bring to the table. Like their other sauces, the taste of green apple shines through.
Ingredients: Apple, jalapeño pepper, vinegar, green bell pepper, water, apple cider vinegar, onion, honey, lime juice, olive oil, habanero peppers, salt, spices, and black pepper.
