Staff Spotlight: Paul

Meet the newest member of the AllSpice team - Paul! Paul joined us in August as our Retail Store Leader for the East Village location.

Paul comes to us with retail and merchandising experience and is a perfect fit for the shop. He's also just an interesting guy! Read on to learn more about him.

What do you like to cook?

Paul is a baker, and cheesecakes and carrot cakes are his specialties. "I love making them and people always ask me to sell them," Paul shared. He loves to use AllSpice Vanilla Paste in his baked creations.

Hmm... maybe we should add cheesecakes to the shop. 

How did you find out about AllSpice?

Paul has known about the shop since its early days. "Back in the shop's first year or two someone who knew I loved to bake asked if I had been down to the shop yet," Paul said. 

What's your favorite food?

Like AllSpicer Mike, Paul loves just about anything Italian. And if it's spicy (think spicy Italian sausage), it's even better!

On his first day, Paul picked up a jar of zippy Ammazza Suocera Blend (the "kill the mother-in-law seasoning"). "It felt like every other person was buying it so I grabbed a jar to try. After trying it, I understand why!" 

What's something most people don't know about you?

While Paul joins us with extensive retail and merchandising experience, he's also punched the clock in politics. Paul has worked on multiple political campaigns and has organized fairly large rallies and events.

Paul is extremely organized, so it was unsurprising to the AllSpice team that he enjoyed planning events and organizing campaign work. It suits him well!

What do you like to do when you're not at the shop?

Paul enjoys staying active and particularly enjoys biking and hiking. He also enjoys hanging out with Moose, his friendly labradoodle who also moonlights as a therapy dog.

"Prior to Covid we enjoyed visiting Orchard Place and the VA," Paul said. He (and Moose) look forward to getting back to that work.

What do you like most about working at AllSpice (so far)?

We thought he'd say the bosses, but he said, "Definitely the customers." Paul really enjoys working with customers in the shop and, like the rest of us, says he learns something new every time he works.
