Smoked Peppercorn Sage Rub

This week’s Spotlight Spice combines the crisp, pungent flavor and aroma of hickory smoked black peppercorns with sage, paprika, onion, and garlic, creating a coarse spice blend you’re going to love - it’s our Smoked Peppercorn Sage Rub.

As the name implies, this blend works wonderfully as a rub or marinade for meats. We particularly enjoy it with turkey, chicken, pork chops and roasts. For a marinade, combine the seasoning with olive oil, add your meat, and allow to sit for at least 2-4 hours before cooking.

This strong but not overpowering rub is also a great pairing for wild game like venison or pheasant. We recommend the blend beyond the barbecue, too! It’s great for adding flavor to roasted and grilled vegetables and is tasty in au gratin potatoes, stuffing, and casseroles. You can even use it to make a flavorful sandwich spread by combining a bit of the blend with mayo!
