Spotlight Spice: French Seafood Seasoning

French Seafood Seasoning

This week’s Spotlight Spice is one of AllSpicer Andy’s favorites – our French Seafood Seasoning.

Andy says, “It’s smells fantastic – it’s one of my favorite spices to jar up. Since it’s salt-free, it can be used liberally for a punch of flavor without consuming twice your daily sodium in a single dish.”

French Seafood Seasoning is a blend of onion, coriander, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, garlic, paprika, pepper and other spices. “It’s simple to use,” says Andy. “Lightly brush your fish with a little extra virgin olive oil, and coat evenly with the seasoning,” he continues. If you’re not observing a salt-free diet, we recommend adding a bit of salt to the fish, then bake or sauté the it until done.

Andy recommends using cod, halibut, red snapper, or tilapia (and yes, tilapia actually tastes like something if you season it well). The blend is also great in crab cakes, bouillabaisse, and stews.

If you’re trying to work more fish into your diet, pick up a jar and give it a try.

  • I love this blend. I’ve used it on salmon and really enjoy it. I’ve also flavored some tomato-based seafood stews with it.
