This week’s Spotlight Spice is our Coconut Extract, and it’s perfect for spring desserts. Extracts are a simple way to punch up the flavor in recipes without changing the overall texture of the dish.

This is particularly true with Coconut Extract, which brings tropical, coconut flavor to your dishes without the drama that comes with the texture of coconut (it’s one of those things people either love or hate, nothing between). As you might expect, it works well in desserts, but a splash can add a bit of interest to kebobs, ham, and more.

Intimidated? Don’t be. For any recipe that calls for Vanilla Extract, you can substitute Coconut Extract – we especially like it with chocolate treats and fruit dishes – or breakfast goodies like French Toast. Give it a try in sweet breads, homemade ice cream and syrups, dressings, and marinades or sauces.
