Spotlight Spice: Chai Spice Blend

Chai Spice Blend

Chai is a word for tea in several languages and, over time, has become associated with a specific blend of warm spices including cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and cardamom -  which is the foundation for our Chai Spice Blend.

To create an Indian-inspired Chai Tea, you’ll need the following:

  • 8 oz. Water
  • 4 oz. Whole Milk
  • 2 tsp. Granulated Sugar
  • 1 heaping tsp. Black Tea
  • 1/2 tsp. Chai Spice Blend

Making the tea is simple… bring the water, milk, and Chai Spice Blend to a simmer in a small saucepan. Reduce the heat to low and add the tea. Steep for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain the mixture into a mug using a fine mesh strainer or coffee filter, and enjoy.

Our Chai Spice Blend works well for more than just tea making, too. Give it a try in your next batch of muffins, cakes, and holiday breads. We also like to add a pinch to our waffle or pancake mix and use it to take our oatmeal to the next level.

And it’s not just for sweet things. Sprinkle a bit on your next pork or beef roast, use a dash or two on a rack of slow-roasted ribs, or blend a pinch with olive oil and a dark balsamic vinegar for a wonderful fall dressing.

Find the blend year round in the shop or online in the Baking Section of allspiceonline.com.
