Caprese? Yes, please-y!
Fresh and flavorful tomatoes are starting to pop up in back yard gardens and farmer's markets alike. One of our favorite ways to enjoy them is by making a delicious Caprese Salad.
Italian Caprese dishes are named for the island of Capri, where they are thought to have originated. The simple salad is refreshing and easy to make. Here's what you'll need: fresh tomatoes, a fresh mozzarella ball, fresh basil, Basil or Pesto Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar (or Riserva Di Balsamico Vinegar if you like it thicker), salt, and pepper.
To prepare the salad, slice tomatoes and mozzarella ball into 1/4 inch slices. Arrange tomato and mozzarella neatly. Roughly chop or tear fresh basil leaves and sprinkle over the top of the arranged tomatoes and mozzarella. Drizzle liberally with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Finish with salt and pepper to taste and enjoy.
