AllSpice staffers, along with Central Iowa’s chefs and caterers, will join Iowa vintners and brewers at the Des Moines Marriott downtown, entertaining patrons with their signature offerings. Sounds yummy, right?
Friday’s Wine & Food Showcase benefits Des Moines Metro Opera’s main stage opera productions as well as their award-winning educational and cultural programs, including OPERA Iowa Educational Touring Troupe and the Apprentice Artist Program.

When? Wine & Food Showcase runs 5:30pm to 8:30pm with the VIP Lounge starting at 4:30pm, and offers guests the opportunity to enjoy samples of extraordinary cuisine from around 40 gourmet vendors. Wines and beers will also be available.
The Des Moines Metro Opera Wine & Food Showcase includes a silent auction and raffle.
Opera + Techno After-party. New this year following Wine & Food Showcase will be Club Opera, the company’s dance and opera-themed after party, at nearby Big City Burgers and Greens, starting at 8:30pm, with music from DJ John Solarz — and will include special performances from Des Moines Metro Opera singers singing techno-inspired opera classics.
Attendees of Wine & Food Showcase are given free admission to Club Opera and single tickets to the after party are $10.

Single tickets. Currently, only subscriptions are available for purchase, but those attending Wine & Food Showcase will have the option of purchasing single tickets before they are available to the public on March 1.
Lineup. This season’s opera offerings include Verdi’s La Traviata, Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, and Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, and the 2nd Stage series is producing Bizet’s and Brook’s The Tragedy of Carmen at the Des Moines Social Club. Wine and Food Showcase attendees will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to that most popular show as well.
Dates. The 42nd Anniversary season runs from June 27 through July 20, 2014, at the Blank Performing Arts Center in Indianola, with Carmen and the 2nd Stage production later in July at the DSM Social Club.
Buying tickets. Tickets to Des Moines Metro Opera Wine & Food Showcase are $50 each at the door. Discounted advance tickets are available for $40 either online or over the phone. VIP tickets are also available for $100 each and include admission and access to the pre-event VIP tastings, and access to the special VIP Lounge during the event.
