Looking for the perfect date? We’ve got one in mind for you.
Free and easy. Low-key, but festive. Dressed up all fancy, but happy for you to come-as-you-are.
Are we talking about your mystery date?
Nope – even better, we’re talking about the East Village Holiday Promenade, coming up next Friday, November 20, from 5 – 9 pm. We’re kicking off the winter holidays with Promenade, our neighborhood-wide celebration! East Village shops will be open late, and the Brenton Skating Plaza opens for the season.
It all starts at 5 pm with Santa Claus’ arrival at Brenton Plaza* ice rink from 5-6:30ish where he’ll light the Brenton Plaza tree at 6:10. (Santa will be across the street from AllSpice at the LifeServe Blood Center from 7pm onward).
Carriage rides, tap dancing, and cookies.
For the equestrian set, there will be horse-drawn trolley rides between 6-8:30 pm, picking up riders at East 5th and Walnut.
Dance performances and strolling choirs will pop up around the neighborhood throughout the evening.
Most East Village shops and restaurants will be open late for Promenade, and many places (like us) are serving treats for our friends who stop by. As for us, AllSpice is serving a long-time customer favorite: triple ginger cookies along with spiced cider here at the store.
There’s even a social media Promenade photo contest. Share and tag your Promenade photos on social media with #HEVPromenade for a chance to win prizes.
Up-to-the-moment news and information about Promenade are on the East Village’s Facebook event page.
*Even at holiday time – perhaps especially at holiday time – food insecurity is an issue in our community. If you can, bring a donation for the food bank. You can drop it off at Brenton Plaza.
