Thanksgiving this year was great. We had a chilled-out day of cooking, eating, and being with loved ones. Blame it on the sleep-inducing Tryptophan in the turkey, or blame it on the fact that the stores are [or at least, used to be] closed all day, it felt so nice to have a low-key, quiet day.
But the calm is, sadly, fleeting. Thanksgiving is followed by what is, for many, a frenzied battle through big crowds, through big-box stores and malls to score one of a limited number of super cheap “Black Friday” mega-deals.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Except, maybe, getting pepper sprayed on the way to the Doorbuster Deal.
But, as Yoda said, there is another… way to kick off your holiday shopping.
Between the big-ticket mega-deals of Black Friday, and online shopping on what’s come to be called “Cyber Monday,” you might want to check out the
second fourth fifth annual Small Business Saturday, November 29, 2014. It’s a day dedicated to supporting small businesses, on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
On November 29, millions of Americans will “Shop Small” at their favorite local stores and help fuel the economy.
When we all shop small, it will be huge.
And, yes, AllSpice gladly accepts American Express. We’ll be here Saturday from 10-5 just like always, so come on in and shop local with AllSpice!
- our chile peppers really are real, genuine food products, not dangerous weapons.
- We have plenty of stock — unlike the 4am big-screen $100 TV, our supplies of culinary delights are not limited!
- And our well-behaved customers are not likely to pummel, mace, or trample you.
See you on Small Business Saturday!
