Staff Spotlight: Chris

AllSpicer Chris

Hey everyone, meet AllSpicer Chris, who joined the team last fall and was a real holiday hero. Chris works with the team at our West Des Moines production facility packaging fresh spices headed for the shelves in the East Village and Iowa River Landing.

As usual, we asked Chris the hard hitting questions to help you get to know them better. 

What do you like to cook?

Chris said, "Whatever won't require a trip to the grocery store - ha!" They told us that noodle and rice dishes are their go-to.

What’s your favorite food?

"Malai kofta and south Asian food in general are my favorites," they said. Chris went on to share that they love the Adobo Seasoning on veggies and often use our House Seasoning in their dishes.

What do you like most about working at AllSpice?

"Honestly my co-workers," they said. "The silly chats, general vibe, and occasional mutual silence in the space as we prep spices for the shelves is great!"

What do you do when you’re not at Production?

Chris has a full-time job that keeps them pretty busy, but when they aren't there or at AllSpice, they love watching trashy reality TV at home with their partner, playing board games with friends, and snuggling up on the couch with their cats, Lil Catty and Perrito.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

"I’m allergic to finned fish," Chris told us. They went on for clarification, "Not shellfish, but actual fishy fish." which gave us a laugh. Luckily, they've been a vegetarian for over five years now, so "fishy fish" is an easy thing to avoid!

How did you learn about AllSpice?

"One of my first jobs upon moving to Des Moines was right around the corner and I walked by nearly every day," they said.

 

We're so happy to have Chris as part of the team. While you likely won't bump into them in either of our retail locations, give 'em a wave if you see them in the AllSpice van, which we lovingly refer to as Vangelina.
